From College To The Pros: Top Quarterback Predictions NFL Draft

A new NFL era starts April 27th, 2023 at 8:00pm. Prospects from around the country drafted from college to help reshape a NFL franchise. Position importance varies by team needs, but if you don’t have a great quarterback, you’re dead in the water. Below we’ll highlight this years crop of top signal-callers and predict their best landing spots.

Bryce Young

QB: Bryce Young 5-10, 204lbs
School: Alabama

This years quarterback class is led by Bryce Young. His 2021 Heisman trophy winning season showcased numbers such as: 4,872 yards, 47Td’s and seven interceptions. Scouts clamored over his 66.9 completion percentage. Upon finishing (what appeared to be a perfect season) he decided to return to Alabama.

In his return Young was sharp. He completed 64.5 percent of his passes. Unfortunately his touchdowns dwindled to a measly 32, while his interceptions came-in at five. These lower numbers were due to his AC joint shoulder injury suffered against Arkansas.

Prediction: The word on the street is the Carolina Panthers love Young. He canceled the rest of his interviews after meeting with the teams top brass. Go buy the jersey, he’ll be a Panther!

CJ Stroud

QB: CJ Stroud 6-3, 214lbs
School: Ohio State

In a world where consistency is key, CJ Stroud has an abundance of it. Both 2021 and 2022 he threw 40 plus touchdowns to only six interceptions. Stroud also completed north of 66 percent back-to-back years. As a result, each season he was awarded Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.

During his time at Ohio State, he threw with ease and regularly hit players in stride. Although his accolades as a Buckeye are near perfect, his one blemish is his 0-2 record against rival Michigan.

Prediction: At the moment the Texans seem split on CJ Stroud at number two. I think they take him and hope to pair him up with his college teammate Marvin Harrison Jr.

Will Levis

QB: Will Levis 6-4, 229lbs
School: Kentucky

Will Levis is the big question mark in the 2023 NFL draft. After leaving Penn State to pursue a starting job at Kentucky, he erupted. At the end of his 2021 campaign he tallied 2,826 yards and threw 24 touchdowns. He completed 66 percent of his passes, and the only concern was his 13 interceptions.

Following his first season as a Wildcat, fans and scouts felt a breakout coming— oddly enough, Levis regressed. Despite having a year in the Kentucky offense and SEC competition under his belt, he underperformed. He threw for only 2,406 yards, and had 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

After his disappointing 2022 season Levis showcased his skills at the NFL combine. During his throwing session he wowed executives with a powerful arm– zipping the ball 59mph. With all of his athletic ability, the question still remains.. Why wasn’t he better?

Prediction: His performance at the combine held at Lucas Oil Stadium (Indianapolis) is what set him apart from the other quarterbacks. He has great size and huge hands. The fans already love him in Indy, and so do the Manning’s. The Colts shock everyone and take Will Levis with the fourth pick!

Anthony Richardson

QB: Anthony Richardson 6-4, 236lbs
School: Florida

Forget everything you know about the quarterback position, and you get Anthony Richardson. Despite only being a starter at Florida for one season, he recorded 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions– which are fine stats. But it’s his legs and freak athleticism that make him special. Richardson added another 654 yards on the ground and nine touchdowns to his already ‘fine stats.’

While he performed nicely in his first year, it was his combine that encouraged his college tape. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds and cleared 40.5 inches in the vertical jump. Since these were achieved and his raw talent was documented; NFL teams became enamored and giddy about his ceiling.

Prediction: Richardson is very raw and needs 1-2 years to develop. And I know they love Geno Smith in Seattle, but I can’t see Pete Carrol passing on this duel-threat quarterback. He will sit, but Richardson will be a Seahawk!
