Ultimate Running Backs Review
In the event that you get the first pick in your fantasy draft, I don’t expect you to have the guts to take Saquon Barkley.
But you should!
His offseason was highlighted by the New York Giants allowing him to find a better fit for himself— greener pastures. Barkley signed with division rival Philadelphia Eagles, adding juice to a rivalry smitten with resentment.
He is leaving a Giants team ranked near the bottom in offensive line efficiency for an Eagles team ranked best in the NFL. And as holes become more consistent, so should Barkley’s fantasy production.
Breece Hall comes in at number two followed by Christian McCaffrey at the third spot. The reasoning behind Hall being much higher than last years finish is because Aaron Rodgers will put him in positive situations which will help his efficiency.
And as for McCaffrey slipping to third; it’s because I believe his carries will come down from 272 in 2023 to a much more manageable 240. When the 49ers drop his regular season carries, he’ll have fresher legs in the post-season.
We round out our top-5 with Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs. Each rookie from last season had disappointing moments for fantasy owners, but this year will be different.
Robinson gets a new quarterback in Kirk Cousins which will open running lanes. As for Gibbs, this season will offer more touches out of the backfield. It’s because of the definite workload increase that I like Gibbs to have a big year–look for 220 plus rushes.
